At the weekends, literally hundreds of local designers (most of which are still unable to afford to set up a shop of their own) flood the Plaza, offering everything from hand-made belts, customised shirts and one-off cocktail dresses. Arrive in the early afternoon to avoid the crowds. Palermo Viejo has also became a big gastronomic center with more than forty bars and restaurants, which are in the able hands of young and creative chefs. The food tends to be ethnic and international, and they consist in renovated houses with courtyards, terraces and sidewalk tables. Finally, at the night, you find many bars with different styles and music. It is one of the most popular, big and active areas of the night life in Buenos Aires. The access is easy since it is just some blocks far away Plaza Italia, in Santa Fe Av. where are many buses and a metro station (Plaza Italia).
