Jardin Zoologico de Buenos Aires
Avenidas Las Heras y Sarmiento , Palermo. Subte D, Plaza Italia. Open Jan, Feb 10am-6pm daily. Mar-Dec 10am-5:30pm Tue-Sun. This city zoo houses over 350 soecies plus aquariums and an educational farm, where kids are taught to bake, milk cows and recycle paper. Indigenous animals include the llama, vicuña and guanaco.
Costanera Sur & Reserva Ecologica
Avenida Tristán Achaval Rodriguez 1550, entre Brasil y Estados Unidos. Open April-Oct 8am-6pm Tue-Sun; Nov-March 8am-7pm Tue-Sun. Within its boundaries, four lakes, gian cortaderas (foxtail pampas grass), willows and shrubs provide natural habitats for more than 200 bird species. The circuit around the reserve is relatively long on foot, but you can hire bicycles at the entrance. The reward at the end of the walk is an spectacualr view of the Rio de la Plata.

Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales Bernardino Rivadavia
Avenida Angel Gallardo 470, Caballito. Open 2-7pm daily. This old-fashioned natural history museum thrills kids who are dotty about dinosaurs, with a skeleton of a carnotaurus and a megaterio. Also on show: a meteorite and skeletons of a boa constrictor and an Indian elephant.Museo de los NiñosLevel 2, Corrientes 3247, Abasto. Open 1-8pm Tue-Sun.This mini adult world is perfect for curius youngsters. They can run a fast-food restaurant or operate a crane on a building site. If their aspirations are higer they can test their medical skills in the hospital, extract teeth in the dental surgery or run a TV studio. Also on offer are science, art and cooking workshops, and under-3s have two playrooms.
Museo Participativo de Ciencias
1st Floor, Centro Cultural Recoleta. Junín 1930, Recoleta. Open Jan, Feb 3:30-7:30pm Tue-Sun; Mar-Dec 10am-5pm Tue-Fri; 3:30-7:30pm Sat, Sun.”Orihibido no tocar” (it´s forbidden not to touch) is the motto of this science museum in the Recoleta Cultural centre, where kids can explore time - enjoying the distorting mirrors and experimenting with lenses and lights. It´s mostsuitable for children over seven. La Calle de los TíteresCentro Cultural del Sur, Avenida Caseros 1750, Constitucion. Open Puppet shows Mar-Dec 3pm Sat; 3pm, 4pm Sun. Closed Jan, Feb.The puppet street present free shows and puppet-making in the patio of an old mansion.
Planetario de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires Galileo Galilei
Parque Tres de Febrero, Belisario Roldan y Avenida Sarmiento, Palermo. Open Museum 10am-6pm Mon-Fri; 1-7:30pm Sat, Sun. Shows 3pm, 4:30pm, 6pm Sat, Sun. The spaceship-shaped planetarium is in the middle of Palermo´s main park. Shows (best for age seven and up) are in spanish, but the visual impact effortlessy vaults the language barrier. The shows include a view of the cosmos from the earth and far-reaching images from the Hubbler space telescope.
Outside Buenos Aires

Ruta Provincial 25, Km 1, Escobar . Open 10am-7pm daily.For captive creatures -and kids- it doesn´t get much better than Parque Temaiquén, just 30 minutes from downtown Buenos Aires. Taking an unhurried stroll around this wonderful park, it´s hard to believe that any of the 200 species are anything other than comfortable.
Parque de la Costa
Vivanco 1509, Tigre. Open 11am-8pm Thru-Sun. This attractive amusment park - the only major one of its kind near Buenos Aires - is next to the Delta station in Tigre, the terminus on the Tren de la Costa. There are fairground and boat rides, gut-wrenching roller coasters, theme restaurants and a lake with a dancing fountain show. There´s somenting for all ages and sizes.
